This heavily constructed, (52,000 lbs) fiberglass, pilothouse cruising ketch is 51 feet on deck and 63 feet overall. She was manufactured by experienced and long time boat builder, Hudson Enterprise Inc. Taiwan. The hull was designed by one of Seattle’s well known and long term architects, Bill Garden. Important hull and interior design changes were incorporated during the 1985 build. These design changes increased interior space, made the cabins more attractive, comfortable and livable. This model was sold under two names, the Venice 51 and the Mickelson 51.
The deck structure was redesigned from earlier versions known as the Force Fifty to incorporate vacuum impregnated epoxy into the fiberglass encasing the marine plywood deck sections. This major design change increased the deck strength, greatly deterred water from entering the marine plywood in the deck and isolated deck sections from sources of water migration. The deck structure had been a major problem in previous designs because the deck was merely a 3 layer laminated structure of fiberglass wood and fiberglass. In that design, if water entered through the top layer of glass, it easily migrated through the thin layers of untreated plywood, which then could start the dry rot weakening of the whole deck.
The reason for selling this vessel is our ageing. We, Dick & Pat Bennett, are approaching our mid-seventies and maintenance and sailing have become less pleasurable. Pat has areas of arthritis and has undergone two right leg joint replacements in her knee and hip. These operations have reduced her mobility and ability assist in docking and other sailing functions. Also, we have fully enjoyed our 21 years of ownership where we have traveled some 40,000 miles, visited remote places in the world, and made lifelong friends around the world.

OUR PLEASURE is located in Cortez, Florida along the intercostals waterway just 15 miles north of Sarasota. The asking price is $199,990.00. This reduced price is based on a recent survey that estimated the fair market value at $382,500.00 and the estimated replacement value at $1,430,000.00. The overall vessel rating was determined as BRISTOL.

WORD AND PICTURE DESCRIPTIONS OF OUR PLEASURE (2009)
GALLEY
• This heavy displacement, 51 foot, fiberglass cruising ketch was designed with the galley amidships to starboard, opposite the navigation station in the pilothouse.
• The galley contains a microwave, a toaster oven, a gimbaled propane stove with 4 burners and an oven/broiler, a
refrigerator and a freezer, two overhead hatches for ventilation, under the counter lighting, security hold-on grab bars, food storage, and the sink has two, deep compartments.
• The well insulated refrigerator is accessed through 2 doors on the top or a front door. The front door contains an analog
thermometer to monitor the interior temperatures. The refrigerated space is about 8.6 cubic feet.
• The freezer is approximately 4.3 cubic feet, loads through the top only and has an analog temperature gauge.
• The refrigerator and freezer temperatures can be maintained by either of three refrigeration systems.
NAVIGATION STATION
• The navigation station is located to port in the pilothouse.
• The station is designed with a inside steering system, redundant to the steering system in the cockpit.
• This station also contains redundant throttle and clutch controls and a chart table that slides into the wall when not in use.
• The station contains navigation equipment like 2 GPS systems, the VHF radio, the master control of the WH autopilot, a
speed log, a redundant depth sounder, generator, and engine controls.
• The single side band remote control system is mounted to the left of the instruments.
• Navigation equipment like the radar display, the sonar scanner, the wind speed/wind direction display and the loud hailer, are mounted outside in the cockpit in visible sight of the cockpit steering station.
• A remote autopilot is mounted on steering pedestal and contains about 15 feet of cable to assist in docking.
• An ac and dc switch panel is located below the wheel and was added to provide additional instruments and ac power systems.
HEATPUMP
• The sea water cooled air conditioner is located below the navigation table in a sound insulated compartment.
The air conditioner is mounted in a stainless steel pan to contain any moisture dripping from the system.
• Water drippings drain into an automatic sump pump.
• Six inch ducts carry the conditioned air into the aft head, the pilothouse, the main salon and the forward head.
• This 16,000 BTU system will operate from the generator.
ENGINE, GENERATOR & MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT
• Beneath the sole of the pilothouse lies the majority of the ships mechanical equipment.
• The Ford Lehman, Super 90 hp, 4 cylinder, 254 cu in, Diesel Engine and its Borg Warner transmission are in the aft section
• The Entec 4.2 kW Diesel gen set is forward of the engine in a sound insulated enclosure.
• The ½ hp, 120 volt ac, refrigeration system is located forward of the generator.
• This compartment contains the potable water, automatic, 12 volt water pump and its accumulator.
• The air conditioner, 120 volt, salt water pump and water filter are located in this compartment.
• The water tank valves are in this compartment.
• The Diesel fuel filters and control valves are in this compartment.
• The valve system and Diesel 12 volt fuel pump are in this compartment. This system can run fuel through the filter in a
continuous cycle or prime the engine injectors.
• The 12 volt pre-lubrication oil pump is in this compartment to pressurize the engine lubricating oil before the engine is started thus increasing engine ring and bearing life.
• The compartment also contains 2, 12 volt, reversible, squirrel cage blowers.
• The engine and generator exhaust water lifts are in this compartment.
• The engine driven air conditioner compressor is in this compartment.
• The engine salt water filter is in this compartment.
• The 2,800 watt inverter and the 6 gallon water heater are to port of the generator.
• A heavy duty, 2,400 watt @ 12 volts alternator is driven by the main engine.
